Eureka! Program

A comprehensive, multi-year initiative designed to encourage girls to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields, while also developing their leadership skills, self-confidence, and career aspirations. The Eureka! program is an immersive five-year program, starting in middle school and continuing through high school that increase girls’ interest, confidence, and competence in STEM subjects and to provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue higher education and careers in these fields.

Summer Program:

  • Incoming 8th & 9th graders: Typically a four-week summer camp hosted at a local college, girls are engaged in hands-on STEM activities, workshops, and projects that are designed to be engaging and educational. Examples include coding, forensic science, environmental science, and engineering challenges. Participants visit colleges, local companies, and more to expose girls to real-world STEM environments and professionals. We incorporate  sports and physical activities to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • Incoming 10th – 12th graders: After they experience summer camp, our girls are ready to bring what they’ve learned and apply it to the real world. Girls receive support in researching, obtaining, and successfully completing internships that culminate in a $500 summer stipend.

School-Year Program:

  • All girls have access to monthly STEM workshops and tutoring sessions to reinforce and expand on what the girls learn during the summer. We pair girls with female mentors who are professionals in STEM fields, providing guidance, support, and career advice and offer opportunities to learn about various STEM careers through guest speakers and workplace tours.

The Eureka! program aims to achieve several key outcomes for participants, including:

  • Increased interest and confidence in STEM subjects.
  • Improved academic performance in STEM courses.
  • Enhanced problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Greater awareness of and preparation for college and STEM careers.
  • Development of leadership skills and a strong sense of self-efficacy.

By providing girls with sustained, intensive exposure to STEM activities and professional environments, the Eureka! program helps them envision a future in STEM and equips them with the tools they need to achieve their goals.
